Race report by Jon Withington
So having started the year with the disappointing news about another flood at Halifax model car track in West Yorkshire, U.K. We were very eager to go and support the massive hard word that the committee and racers had done on the much needed track since the flood at Christmas.

Many club and national racers attended the "Valentine’s day" 14/ 02/16, winter race to get some much needed practice and set up time prior to the much anticipated nationals coming up soon. Conditions it has to be said were very slippery, and with a multi class format meaning just three heats it was crucial to find a quick set up and most importantly a tyre that worked over these four rounds.

I'm the 1/10th IC touring class, both Jon Withington and Matt Williams ran the XRAY Nt1 (s). It was very close between them, only one other driver was on the pace and that was Matt Cook, another respected national racer.

In round three, Jon and Matt were on very similar times indeed with only .7 seconds between them at one point.

Round 4, and Jon Withington pulled something out of the bag to take TQ in front of Matt. Finding that soft damp tyres worked incredibly well, Jon needed to change the set up on the XRAY NT1 only slightly to find a touch more rear end stability.

In the final, Jon was off from pole, closely followed by Matt Williams and Matt cook. Matt Cook had power in abundance, using an x team mates motor. But he hit trouble after about five minutes with a flame out. This left Jon Withington and Matt Williams fighting out for the lead with their XRAY NT1's. At one point the skies dulled and there was even some small hail stones falling from the sky!!

Over this twenty minute final, Jon pulled away during the final five minutes and took a clean victory over Matt Williams. Jon's, XRAY NT1 2015, proved to be super reliable as always and easy to drive in these slippery conditions. Unfortunately I think it may need a very good steam clean now.
